While Diffuser Films are thin and used within display modules, Diffuser Sheets are their thicker, more robust counterparts, typically made from materials like Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA), Polystyrene (PS), or Polycarbonate (PC). Their primary purpose is to solve a fundamental challenge in lighting design: how to transform the harsh, concentrated light from individual LED points into a soft, uniform, and aesthetically pleasing area of illumination. This is achieved through light-scattering particles or surface textures embedded within the sheet. When light from an LED hits the sheet, it is scattered in multiple directions, effectively blending the individual points of light into a continuous, homogenous glow. This process is crucial for eliminating hotspots and ensuring visual comfort. TECHWON supplies a variety of Diffuser Sheets tailored for different applications. We offer sheets with varying levels of light transmission and haze, allowing designers to balance brightness with diffusing power. For example, a high-transmission sheet might be used where efficiency is paramount, while a high-haze sheet would be chosen for applications where completely hiding the LED source is the main goal, such as in premium architectural lighting. Our sheets come in various thicknesses and can be cut to custom sizes, making them suitable for everything from large-scale troffer lights in offices to backlit signage and industrial light panels. We ensure our sheets offer excellent color stability, UV resistance to prevent yellowing, and, in the case of polycarbonate, high impact resistance for use in demanding environments.
