Beyond individual components, TECHWON specializes in providing complete TV Backlighting Units (BLUs), which are the fully assembled optical engines that illuminate an LCD panel. A BLU is a complex, precision-engineered module that integrates all the essential optical films and the light source into a single unit. This typically includes a rear reflector sheet, the Light Guide Plate (for edge-lit designs) or a diffuser plate (for direct-lit designs), the LED strips, and the stack of optical films on top, such as the bottom diffuser, prism sheets, and top diffuser. Sourcing a complete BLU offers manufacturers significant advantages. It simplifies the assembly process, reduces the number of individual components to manage, and ensures that all optical parts are perfectly matched and aligned for optimal performance right out of the box. This can lead to higher yields in production and a more consistent final product. Our role is to work with manufacturers to specify and source the ideal BLU for their needs. We consider factors like desired brightness, power consumption targets, color gamut requirements (e.g., specifying a QDEF film), and the physical dimensions of the television. We partner with leading BLU assemblers to provide solutions for a wide range of TV sizes and performance tiers, from entry-level sets to high-end 8K HDR models. By leveraging our supply chain expertise, TV manufacturers can streamline their production, reduce R&D costs associated with backlight design, and accelerate their time to market.
